Building Communities Fund & Sponsorship Applications

We are proud to support a wide range of local clubs, schools, voluntary organisations, charities, and community projects. Through our Building Communities Fund and Sponsorship Programme, we provide financial support for initiatives that have a positive impact within our common bond.

Supporting Your Community

At Naomh Breandan Credit Union, community is at the heart of everything we do. As a not-for-profit organisation, every time you borrow from us or use our services, you're helping us give back to the Loughrea community and surrounding areas.

Being a member means more than just accessing great financial services—you are also directly contributing to the support of local initiatives, groups, and causes that make our community stronger.

Who Can Apply?

  • Community or voluntary groups
  • Registered clubs or societies
  • Schools and colleges
  • Not-for-profit organisations
  • Charitable bodies
  • Local community initiatives

Application Criteria

  • Located within the common bond (Loughrea and surrounding communities)
  • How can funds benefit the group and the wider community?
  • A willingness to engage with other groups by sharing skills, knowledge etc
  • If granted funding, the credit union must be recognised in the form of signage, social media, etc

Building Communities Fund

Naomh Breandan Credit Union’s Building Communities Fund supports initiatives by community groups in Loughrea and the surrounding areas that benefit our local communities.

We are particularly interested in projects that:

  • identify and respond to the needs of people in the community – especially more vulnerable community members;
  • collaborate with other local groups to achieve greater impact; and
  • work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Sponsorship Applications

For smaller funding requests to support events, sports teams, equipment, raffles or local group activities.

This could include (but not limited to): 
- Support for a sports club or group
- A donation towards a community event
- Sponsorship for a project

How to Apply

Sponsorship applications (usually between €50 and €500) can be submitted all year round. You can apply by completing the application form below – online version or printable version.

The Building Communities Fund 2026 is now open - €30,000 available to community groups and local initatives. Funding is typically between €500 and €2,500.
