New Energy Upgrade Grants Announced for Homeowners

New Energy Upgrade Grants Announced for Homeowners

Homeowners across Ireland will find it easier and more affordable to improve the energy efficiency of their homes following the announcement of a range of enhanced SEAI home energy grants. The changes were introduced in February and March, they are designed to help reduce the cost of upgrades and accelerate the transition to more energy-efficient homes.

Increased Support for Insulation

From 3 February, grants for cavity wall insulation and attic insulation increased to reflect rising installation costs. These higher fixed grants are intended to significantly reduce the cost to homeowners and encourage more households to begin improving the energy performance of their homes.

New Heat Pump Grant

A new heat pump system grant of up to €12,500 has also been introduced. This grant combines the existing support for heat pump installation with funding for upgrading radiators and pipework, along with a new renewable heating bonus. The aim is to make switching to a heat pump system more accessible for homeowners considering a full heating system upgrade.

Additional Supports:

From 2 March, several additional measures will came into effect, including:

  • A new grant for energy-efficient windows and doors where homes meet certain building fabric standards.
  • A special attic insulation grant for first-time buyers purchasing older homes.
  • The option for homeowners who previously installed wall insulation to apply for a second wall insulation measure.
  • Increased insulation grants for homeowners on qualifying welfare payments to help address energy poverty.

These measures, alongside existing supports such as the SEAI One Stop Shop service, are designed to help more households improve comfort, reduce energy bills and prepare their homes for renewable heating technologies.
