The Donal Burke Memorial Scholarship

Naomh Breandan Credit Union’s annual Donal Burke Memorial Scholarship supports NBCU members who are entering third level education or starting an apprenticeship. Three scholarships, to the value of €500 each, are awarded every year to help three new students or apprentices to cover part of the costs associated with their education.

The scholarship celebrates the memory of our esteemed former board member Donal Burke, who was a passionate and proactive advocate for education, youth, and our credit union.

Scholarship applicants must be:

A member of Naomh Breandan Credit Union & aged 17 or older.

Commencing first year in a third level college recognised by the Department of Education, or taking up an apprenticeship with a recognised body, for the first time.

Terms & Conditions:

• Applicants must be members of Naomh Breandan Credit Union Limited aged 17 or older.

• Applications will only be accepted from students commencing a course or apprentices commencing a trade for the first time.

• Only one application per student or apprentice will be accepted.

• The scholarship draw will be overseen by an independent observer.

• Scholarship awardees are required to provide official written confirmation that they have been registered on their course or apprenticeship.

• The scholarship amount of €500 will be lodged into the student’s/apprentice’s credit Naomh Breandan Credit Union account in October.

• The scholarship winners’ names will be made public and they are requested to allow Naomh Breandan Credit Union Limited to use their name and photo for publicity, e.g. on our social media, website, in promotional materials and in local and national press.

• NBCU staff and volunteers are not eligible to enter this scholarship.

• The decision of the Board of Directors of Naomh Breandan Credit Union Limited will be final on all matters relating to this scholarship.

• The Board of Directors of Naomh Breandan Credit Union Limited reserve the right to alter the terms and conditions of this Scholarship at their discretion without prior notice.
