Job Opening - Member Services & Lending Officer

Naomh Breandáin Credit Union is a progressive, innovative, and member‑focused community credit union dedicated to providing high‑quality financial services to our growing membership. We are now seeking a motivated and service‑driven Member Services & Lending Officer to join our team.
About the Role
This full‑time, permanent role combines frontline member services with lending assessment responsibilities. The successful candidate will deliver friendly, accurate service while supporting the credit union’s lending operations in line with policy, regulation, and responsible lending standards.
Contract: Full‑time, Permanent (39 hours per week, Tuesday–Saturday)
Reports to: Operations Manager and Lending Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Member Services & Teller Duties
- Provide excellent member service aligned with NBCU values
- Process member transactions: cash handling, lodgements, withdrawals, transfers, foreign exchange
- Complete daily balancing and reconciliations
- Carry out administration and back‑office processing
- Support online and digital member services
- Manage member queries and complaints professionally
- Maintain accurate records and compliance standards
- Provide operational support across areas including business development, credit control, AML, and data protection
- Lending Responsibilities
- Assess personal, community, SME, and mortgage loan applications
- Conduct affordability assessments, credit checks, and documentation reviews
- Prepare lending recommendations within authorised limits
- Support lending policy updates, strategy, and product development
- Maintain broad operational knowledge to support team coverage
- Complete lending administration including reports, data accuracy, and pipeline monitoring

Essential Skills & Experience
- Excellent written and verbal English
- Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft applications
- Experience in member services, financial services, or customer‑facing roles
- Accurate cash‑handling abilities
Desirable / Lending‑Specific
- Previous lending experience (mortgage or SME beneficial)
- Lending qualifications (APA Loans, QFA, or equivalent)
- Strong report‑writing and analytical skills
- Presentation skills (advantage)
- Experience in the Irish credit union sector
- Meets Central Bank MCC requirements or willing to train
Minimum Competency Requirements
The successful candidate must meet Central Bank of Ireland MCC requirements for lending or be willing to complete necessary training.
