Naomh Breandan Credit Union is a progressive, innovative, member-focused, community Credit Union whose primary aim is to provide financial services that meet the needs of our growing membership.

The credit union is inviting applications for the role of Member Services Officer, working throughout the summer months, primarily performing the role of member services officer, but also participating in current ongoing NBCU projects (incl. data cleansing (GDPR), data accuracy (ISBAR, requirement of the central bank) and the CU’s Sustainability project), and to provide cover for staff annual leave.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive and successful community Credit Union and to learn about credit union operations and member service.

Contract Status: Full Time, Specified Purpose, to enable completion of projects and to provide cover for staff annual leave

Reporting to: Deputy Manager

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Deputy Manager, the Member Services Officer provides an efficient service to members of Naomh Breandan Credit Union and is accountable for carrying out a range of administrative and operational activities within authorised limits that contribute to the effectiverunning of the credit union, including responsibility for member services and transactions, cash handling and reconciliations, foreign exchange and general office duties.  The role will also involve working in other areas of the business from time to time, including back office and online services, providing assistance to various projects (outlined above) and to the lending, credit control, and business development teams, some book-keeping and anti-money laundering and data protection compliance.

The successful candidate will:

• Take pride in delivering superior and high-quality member service in line with the credit union’sculture and values;
• Have excellent written and verbal English;
• Be responsive and prompt, following through on tasks, member requests and/or complaints in a timely manner;
• Be flexible and willing to work in various areas of the business
• Take ownership of a problem if it arises, taking personal responsibility for its resolution.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in approach, striving to meet performance standards.
• Approach daily tasks with energy, engagement and enthusiasm.
• Carry out activities in an orderly and well-structured manner.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date information.
• Voluntarily put forward suggestions for improvements.
• Possess good IT skills, and will be comfortable using a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
• Have good communication and interpersonal skills, including good telephone and online skills;
• Be a team player, who enjoys working with both colleagues and in a customer-facing role
• If required, be willing to undertake training to achieve ‘minimum competence’ requirements, as set by the Central Bank of Ireland for the credit union sector, which may be amended from time to time.
